As we are very well aware in our society, the depiction of being in love is a picture of green fields and flowers,a happy ending - full of happiness and full of life. Even I, I used to think that being in love is a fairytale. Some sort of a fountain of happiness in our lives.I used to think being in love is enough to sustain a relationship because when there is love everything else follows.
But experiencing it is different. Love isn't just like that. When you are in love, you are helpless, you are vulnerable. It will not only give you happiness but it will give you pain more than you could ever imagine. It will swallow your whole being. When you are in love you expose yourself because you give it your all. I realize that all my idealism of being an independent person and loving myself first and foremost will exempt me from the harshness of it - but no - I realized that those who say it for a fact has never really been in love.
Love is a curse, it numbs the mind. It is a rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs. If there is one thing I learned about loving someone - it is the fact that it should not be forced. We should not fall in love with the idea of being in love. You have to find someone who you are willing to fight very hard for. Find someone who is worth all the pain not only the good memories. Find someone who you can accept and will accept you including each other's past and the things about each other that cannot be changed. Find someone who will not change you instead will encourage you and understand the things that you are not. Find someone who shares your commitment. Find someone who can love you the way you want to be loved. And finally, find someone who will not only love you but will also respect you for who you really are.
When you do find a person like that - that is the only time when you should lay your heart on the line. There may come a time when that person may break your heart or can hurt you - and that is the harsh reality of it, but you know that whatever it is - he or she is worth it.
