I love Baguio. It is my happy place .I know some people might say that Baguio had lost its charm but for me it is still worth a visit.
Things I love about Baguio :)
1 - Weather
I have been to cold places and did not like it as much :) Baguio's weather is just fine. It is probably just chilly in the morning and late at night - but a cool breeze will be felt throughout the day. It's a great escape from hot and humid Manila.
2 - The Manor/Camp John Hay
Some places in Baguio are a bit crowded but this is some place else. Camp John Hay has the most lush greens, with Pine trees all over. You can also find the The Manor hotel here. I have stayed in the Manor 2-3 times and they are just the most relaxed "stay cation" I ever had and not to mention that the Manor has the BEST breakfast ever. Imagine having a sumptuous breakfast, Filipino style, on a cool morning breeze with a fantastic view and cap it off with a hot coffee - it is just priceless.
Apart from that, there are several activities that can be done in this area - picnic by the hills, tree-top adventure(I have tried and enjoyed the view of the mountains), horseback riding, paintball, miniature golf etc..
3 - The Journey
My bf and I love long drives. Driving relaxes him. I enjoy the 5 hour time alone time with him. Armed with a playlist and a little bit of food - we are good to go. I also enjoy "pitstops" at gas stations in NLEX :)
We prefer to pass by Kennon Road for the thrill of it hehe and because travel time is less. There are new roads going to Baguio that makes the journey much faster and more convenient - that is via SCTEX and TPLEX. If you are less adventurous you can take Marcos Highway instead.
4 - Good Shepherd
Ube? Strawbery Jam? Peanut Brittle? Crinkles? These are perfect pasalubongs for your loved ones and friends.
5 - Mt. Santo Tomas
We came to know about this place by accident. When we were in Baguio, we were wondering what are those 2 satellite dishes from afar and thought why not go to that place? Little did we know that it is Mt. Santo Tomas - the famous place where the TV show Forevermore was shot. We had no idea. We stayed there for 1 night and waited for the sunrise - it is simply breathtaking(and. cold hehe). From up there, it is overlooking Baguio. It is a bit scary though to drive up there at around 4pm - it's extremely foggy so I advise to come there in the morning.
6 - Cafe by the Ruins - Shindig Road
I never miss dining at Cafe by the Ruins when I go to Baguio. It has a very nice ambiance, fantastic Filipino dishes and good customer service.
7- Baguio Night Market
Baguio Night market happens near Burnham Park/Session Road. It starts at around 9PM if and ends at midnight. You can find many items there like clothes, shoes and accessories but what I look for usually are the locally made items. I remember buying sandals there and its still with me and I still use it. I also like street foods and it is also available there (ehem) - fish balls and grilled corn are my favorite.
8 - Food Trip
Baguio is a perfect place for a foodie. So many choices at cheap prices :) From fine dining , enjoying quaint restaurants, strawberry taho, to street foods, you'll never run out of choices.
9 - Baguio Cathedral/Our Lady of Lourdes
We always make sure to pay a visit to the Cathedral and Our Lady of Lourdes when we go to Baguio.
10- Session Road
This is a very busy road in Baguio. You can almost find anything here. Particularly at night, you can enjoy live bands and gimmick places in this area.
